A Typical Language School in Spain

A typical language school in Spain where learning spells F-U-N is not necessarily located in the Spanish mainland or the Iberian Peninsula for that matter. It is located elsewhere as in the exotic Balearic or Canary archipelagos. Language schools located here have relatively cheaper tuition so you can indulge more in your vacation here. But don’t worry; language schools in these islands during winter are not as overcrowded as they are during summer.

During summer, there are lots of British tourists who crowd these language schools in their offerings of a six-month grasp of the language. If you want to acquire Spanish as a language because you are living in Spain as a retiree for the rest of your life, then this is a good opportunity for you to learn the mother tongue of your neighbors.

Most of the enrollees in the Spanish language school during winter here in Tenerife or in Ibiza for instance are those who have moved here after a fulfilling life back home. Home may be England, Scotland, Ireland or just about anywhere in Northern and Western Europe. These fellow Europeans make up the bulk of the enrollees in the language schools here in Spain, particularly in the Mediterranean and other islands that are mentioned earlier.

But if you are sent here by your company to learn Spanish, that’s an entirely different story. Your company will just enroll you in an online school if they go thrift. Anyway, you will learn the same thing. Online language schools in Spain ought not to be frowned at as their instructors are graduates of reputable universities in Madrid and Barcelona.

All the student needs to do is log in to his student’s account every day for five days a week and answer the corresponding answers to the daily quizzes. You have to wait for your real assignment in Spain only after you’ve taken the course.

But then again, there are other companies in the United States and even in Europe, Japan or the Middle East which are very generous. They want to send their employees to embark on a study tour to Spain, putting emphasis on learning the language itself.

In a typical language school in this country, you will be assisted by Spanish locals. There is such a program called immersion where you will be embedded in a family home of Spaniards while you are enrolled in the language course program. That will be a total of six months the most. During these times, you will be eating with the family and you will patiently take tutorial tips from them on how to improve your acquisition of the second language. In that way, you will be learning Spanish from a very practical viewpoint.

The expenses that you will incur during the immersion will be deducted from your tuition but if it is charged against your company, then you will have nothing to worry about. Think of it as an additional reward for your performance aside from the forthcoming promotion of being posted here in Spain for the next six months after you’ve really acquired Spanish as a second language.
